Mayor Boileau and Mike Kentish, MAT Tourism Grant Committee representative, presented a check for $10,000 to Timmins Minor Hockey Association and Timmins North Stars for the U13AA Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Minor Hockey Championships, which took place on April 18-21 in Timmins.
A total of 260 visitors chose to stay in local hotels for three nights, contributing to a boost in tourism dollars spent in the city. The tournament is the culminating event for teams in the Ontario Hockey Federation. Teams from the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE), Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA), Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) gathered to crown the provincial champions.
