TIMMINS, ON — Research shows that businesses with inclusive workplace practices experience improved employee retention and satisfaction, increased productivity and financial returns, and higher levels of innovation.
The Timmins Workplace Inclusion Charter (WIC) is part of the Timmins Diversity Awareness Project. The Charter promotes building inclusive and welcoming workplaces through a declaration of commitment to diversity and inclusion. It acknowledges that employees deserve to feel safe, respected, valued, and supported at work.
The Charter includes 16 commitments across five categories: Communication, Culture and Leadership, Policies, Recruitment and Onboarding, and Training and Development. By signing the Charter, employers are taking the first step toward becoming more inclusive, and are pledging to actively work toward completing the commitments outlined in the Charter.
Organizations may determine which Charter commitments they wish to prioritize, and develop an action plan to tackle those commitments. The Charter includes tools and resources to help support employers in their journey towards creating more inclusive workplaces.
Interested businesses and organizations can access the Timmins Workplace Inclusion Charter here. The first five organizations that sign onto the Charter will receive a free Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) assessment and results analysis to help kickstart their action plan (to a value of $500)!
This project was made possible in part by the Government of Canada. The Timmins Diversity Awareness Project is one of 85 projects selected across the country to receive funding through the Anti-Racism Action Program, which provides funding for projects that address barriers to employment, justice, and social participation among Indigenous Peoples, racialized communities, and religious minorities.
