TIMMINS, ON – The Timmins Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) is hosting the regions first Employer Immigration Week. The programming aims to promote immigration as a solution to the labour challenges employers are facing in northeastern Ontario. The events will educate employers on immigration services and programs, and are ideal for those who have some or no knowledge on the topic. The TEDC’s Employer Immigration Week takes place November 1-4.

“As our region continues to face stringent labour challenges, it is essential that employers and businesses in our region understand what services and programs are available and how they can access them,” said Christy Marinig, CEO of the TEDC.

The Timmins Regional Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) officially expanded to surrounding communities as of September 23, 2022. Communities throughout northeastern Ontario from Hearst to Cochrane to Temiskaming Shores and Foleyet can now participate in RNIP. A map of the new boundaries, can be found here. In addition to the expansion, the program has officially been extended until February 2024.

“The expansion and extension are great news for our region. We look forward to seeing communities outside of Timmins participate and benefit from the pilot program, which has had a great impact on Timmins since its launch in 2020,” said Audrey Penner, Chair of the TEDC Board of Directors.

The TEDC’s Employer Immigration Week events include a combination of virtual and hybrid events to ensure employers throughout the region can learn about the resources and programs available to them. More information on our upcoming events and registration can be found here
