Tourism Development Fund

The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) supports tourism initiatives that attract visitors to Timmins and generate overnight stays.  The program is funded through municipal accommodation tax revenues collected from hotels and short-term rentals and is administered by the Timmins Economic Development.

Eligible organizations may apply for up to $100,000 in funding for projects that align with the City of Timmins’ tourism priorities.

Eligible Tourism Initiatives

Projects may include:

• Sports and outdoor tourism events (e.g., tournaments, competitions, amateur sporting events)
• Cultural and heritage tourism initiatives (e.g., concerts, festivals, culinary events, mining heritage experiences)
• Conferences and conventions with provincial, national, or international reach

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

• Incorporated not-for-profit organizations
• Incorporated for-profit organizations
• Schools

Individuals and unincorporated groups are not eligible.

Projects must demonstrate the ability to attract out-of-town visitors and generate overnight accommodations in Timmins.

Eligible & Ineligible Expenses

Eligible project expenses include:

• Venue rental and catering
• Equipment rental
• Marketing
• Consulting fees

Ineligible expenses include:

• Alcohol
• Retroactive costs
• Deficit reduction
• Organization operating costs

How to Apply

1. Complete the online TDF Application
2. A program representative will contact you within 3 business days to schedule a project consultation.
3. Submit all required documentation by the intake deadline. 

Next Application Intake Deadline:  Friday July 31, 2026

Incomplete applications may require additional information before a consultation is scheduled.  Applications missing required documentation by the intake deadline will not be reviewed by the TDF committee.
